Few Canadians realize that their country is one of the world's leading producers and exporters of advanced, war technology. Such is the power of the long-prevailing mythology that Canada is a great, global force for peace.

However, many of Israel's most-deadly, US-made weapons systems--now being used in air strikes against Lebanon--would not be able to function without hundreds of crucial, high-tech, electronic components supplied by Canadian war industries, and subsidized unwittingly by Canadian taxpayers.  Here are three examples:

AH-64 "Apache" attack helicopter
Click above for a list of a 12 Canadian war industries that have provided parts and/or services for AH-64s.
Prime Contractor: Boeing (CPP investment = $71 million)

F-15 "Eagle" tactical fighter/bomber
Click above for a list of 21 Canadian war industries that have provided parts and/or services for F-15s.
Prime Contractor: Boeing (CPP investment = $71 million)

F-16 "Fighting Falcon" multi-role fighter/bomber
Click above for a list of 18 Canadian war industries that have provided parts and/or services for F-16s.
Prime Contractor:
Lockheed Martin (CPP investment = $27 million)

The above links will bring you to some original research by the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade on Canadian components in these weapons systems.
These links also contain otherf data on these weapons delivery systems, such as:
* their use in dozens of previous wars, invasions, regime changes and bombardments, etc.
* their use in entertaining children during "performances" at Canadian "air shows," and
* Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) involvement. (In 2001 and 2002 alone, the CCC brokered $7.5 million in Canadian exports for AH-64s, F-15s and F-16s.)

Canadian War Industry Subsidies to Political Parties
Canadians might be dismayed if they were ever to learn that both the Liberal and Conservative Party (and its predecessors) have received millions in political donations from war industries. Click the link above for a list of known donations from Canadian war-industries to these political parties between 1993 and 2002. Included are about 15 corporations that have exported parts and services for US AH-64s, F-15s and/or F-16s:
AlliedSignal Aerospace, Atlantis Aerospace, Bristol Aerospace, CAE, CMC, Devtek, DRS Flight Safefty and Communications, DY4, Elcan, Heroux, Litton, Magellan and Rockwell International of Canada.

Canadian Government Subsidies to War Industries
Over the last three decades, Canadian war industries have received about $5 billion in grants and unrepaid loans from the Canadian government, thanks to such programs as Industry Canada's Technology Partnerships Canada (formerly known as the Defence Industry Productivity Program). Click the link above for a list of such Canadian military industries, including about 25 that have exported parts and/or services for US AH-64s, F-15s and/or F-16s:
AlliedSignal Aerospace, Atlantis Systems, AWSM Enterprises, BAE Systems, Bristol Aerospace, Cercast, CMC Electronics, Derlan Aerospace, Devtek, DRS Flight Safefty and Communications, Fag Bearings, Fleet Industries, Garrett Canada, Haley Industries, Heroux-Devtek, Honeywell ASCA, Hypernetics, IMP Group, Litton Systems Canada, Magellan Aerospace, Menasco, Rockwell International of Canada, Virtual Prototypes and West Heights Manufacturing.

Canada Pension Plan Investments in War Industries
Many Canadians would also despair if they were to somehow find out that the Canada Pension Plan has invested billions of dollars in hundreds of war industries, including many of the world's top weapons makers. Among the war industries--in which millions of Canadians are forced to invest their pension funds--are the US prime contractors overseeing production of AH-64s, F-15s and F-16s and the weapons that they "deliver."

CPP Investments in Prime Contractors making Weapons aboard AH-64s, F-15s and F-16s
The above link provides a detailed list of about 115 different missiles and bombs deployed by weapons delivery systems in which major Canadian components can be found. Of the 73 weapons systems listed here--whose corporate, prime contractors could be determined--59 were built by US war industries in which the CPP now has investments. The tables below list the weapons aboard US AH-64s, F-15s and F-16s, that are built by war industries in which the CPP has investments.

Israel, Jewish History, and the War on Terror

An Introduction

Ask any "terrorist" targeted in the "War on Terror" what he is opposing, and invariably the answer will be given: the Zionist occupation of the Middle East and Palestine in particular. This explanation was given by Osama bin Laden in a taped speech broadcast by Al-Jazeera, and has been given by other "terrorists" since 1948.

http://www.vigilantfreedom.org/910blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/usa_israel_flag_large.jpg

It is a revealing fact that the first official act of the United Nations was the creation of the modern State of Israel, a move that achieved the Orwellian prediction of "perpetual war for perpetual peace." The Middle East has been in a state of war since that time. As Arab and Asian leaders have been co-opted or "bought out" by the West, the resistance toward the State of Israel -- that unnatural and recent innovation -- has moved into the grass roots of the Muslim world.

It is sometimes said that Israel is a client of the United States, but in reality and practice, the U.S. is a client of Israel. The single most powerful influence in the U.S. government is Jewish. During his confirmation hearing Secretary of State Collin Powell vowed to "make sure Israel is absolutely secure." And because of its role as supporter and protector of Israel, and enforcer of the Zionist agenda, the U.S. was a natural target for the "terrorists" in the September 11 attacks.

We use "terrorist" in quotations because it is mainly an Israeli usage applied liberally toward the enemies of the Zionist agenda. It is a label now applied just as liberally by the U.S. government and media apparatus. And as this perpetual Mideast war becomes a "perpetual world war for perpetual world peace," we will see just how much the U.S. government is an extension of Israeli policy. As the Christian Druze militia did Israel's bidding in south Lebanon, the Christian nations of the West have been assigned the task of pursuing the enemies of Zionism world-wide.

President Bush and Israeli flag

There is a fondly hugged notion in the West, and particularly in the U.S., that Palestine is the ancestral homeland of the Jews -- their "birthright". This idea forms the basis of popular support for Israel in the United States, particularly among those who call themselves Christians. This is a notion not shared by Muslims (and even a considerable number of Jews), especially the millions of displaced Palestinian refugees and the million or so people fenced in like animals on the Gaza strip.

But are these Zionists who call themselves Jews really Jews, in the sense that they are descendants of Israel's Jews of antiquity -- something that gives them a "divine right" to displace the Arabs in Palestine from their ancestral homeland? Is there any substance whatever to this concept of "the chosen people"? There is much evidence that suggests the ancestors of a majority of today's Jews never set foot in Palestine, and that the creation of the State of Israel, with its attendant justifications, is one of the greatest frauds of human history.

Because this "war on terror" has its roots in this fraud, and is waged for the purpose of extending this fraud, it will go down in history as one of the greatest crimes against humanity. If President Bush wants to call something "evil", he would not be hyperbolic in applying that label to the "war on terror" and the Zionist agenda.

To help dispel some of the smoke surrounding the real issues involved in this "new war", we have written a feature length article on the history and racial make-up of most of Israel's Jews. We believe it debunks the "hallowed right of return" theory, and may help the reader to understand some of the real issues involved, not just in the Mideast now, but the entire world.

The Israel Green Movement and Gaza

http://www.treesinstead.com/images/green-recycle-img.jpg

The Israel Green Movement is currently working on a position paper with regard to the recent violence in Gaza and southern Israel.  It is well worth reminding in the meantime that the Green Movement, which mourns the loss of all human life,  supports the right of Israel and its government to protect the lives of its citizens.  At the same time, we believe that the way forward to peace between Israel and Palestine is based on mutual recognition and two states - Israel and Palestine - for two people.  Our platform on regional issues emphasizes cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians on all environmental issues - including water management, air quality and open spaces/biodiversity.  Our working assumption is that the area of Israel and Palestine constitutes a single ecological unit in which natural resources must be managed cooperatively.  We hope to see a speedy end to hostilities and an initiation of constructive dialogue based on the principle of two states/two people.

Until the release a position statement on Gaza, readers are suggested to read IGM member Gershon Baskin’s op ed in the Jerusalem Post yesterday (which is his opinion and not that of the IGM), where he explains the predicament for Israel and Palestine of a Hamas-led government in Gaza

KKL-JNF delegation from the UK Solidarity and Commitment

An honorary delegation of heads of JNF UK renewed the deep commitment of Friends of KKL-JNF in Great Britain to the welfare of residents of the Western Negev in general, and residents of the city of Sderot in particular. The delegation also included heads of the One Family Fund for aiding families of terror victims that operates in close cooperation with Friends of KKL-JNF in the United Kingdom.

Still jetlagged from their overnight flight, the delegation, headed by JNF UK Chairman Samuel Hayek, met with people who remained on the front lines of Hamas' inhumane terrorist acts from the Gaza Strip during the past eight years and particularly since last Hannukah. The members of the delegation came with a message of encouragement and support, but quickly found that they themselves were the recipients of support and encouragement throughout all of their meetings.
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=urlimage&blobheader=image%2Fjpeg&blobheadername1=Cache-Control&blobheadervalue1=max-age%3D420&blobkey=id&blobtable=JPImage&blobwhere=1233304660597&cachecontrol=5%3A0%3A0+*%2F*%2F*&ssbinary=true

The delegation first met the "right arm" of the IDF - Lieutenant-Colonel Hami - the man responsible for the daily activities and action on the complex naval front of the Gaza Strip during Operation "Cast Lead." The meeting took place at the naval base in Ashdod. The navy has ships positioned permanently from the border with Egypt up to Ashkelon to prevent weapons' smuggling and terrorist activities at sea, and patrols the remainder of the sector up to Herzliya north of Tel Aviv. This small but effective unit is responsible for protecting the State of Israel along its Mediterranean coast.

Operation "Cast Lead" not only offered the navy an opportunity to prove its capability and essentiality for Israel's security, but also to prove its skill and determination - as shown to members of the government through combat films taken over the past few weeks. The members of the solidarity delegation listened with excitement to descriptions and recounts of the human elements of the difficulties of military service in the navy described by Lieutenant-Colonel Hami. "Our way of thinking consists of the need to give our soldiers a welcoming environment in which they serve as much as possible, despite the fact that the base is located on the beach and presents physical conditions that offer little possibility of offering a more inviting environment such as that offered by bases of the corps on land and the air force."

The delegation had an especially exciting meeting with Lieutenant Shai, the commander of one of the Israeli-manufactured Dvorah patrol boats. Lieutenant Shai talked about the routine of the small ship's crew aboard the sophisticated craft that is manufactured entirely in Israel far from the seacoast at a factory in Beersheba. "In actuality, we only know the quality of the production and its reliability when we first launch the new boat here at the Ashdod Port," the young officer explained.

The close encounter with the young people who stand at the front of the country's existence continued shortly after that on the campus of Sapir College in Sderot, where several of the students awaited the delegation. Sapir College was directly hit numerous times by qassam rockets in recent years. A sign was still hanging on the bulletin board in the protected room where the group met with the following instructions: "When the "Color Red" alert sounds students must remain in this room." This is one of the less pronounced signs of the everyday routine that prevailed at the college throughout the eight long years of rocket attacks. The more blatant sign was the destruction caused by one of the homemade rockets that was visible on the third storey of the building where the meeting took place.

The Dean of Students at Sapir College, Alon Gayer, explained, "We had a "tsunami" of qassam rockets here since Israel evacuated our communities by the Gaza Strip. We are located two kilometers from the strip as the crow flies, and operate the largest public college in Israel with 7,500 students from all over the country. Among them are hundreds of new immigrants who are alone in the country. 90% of the students are the first generation in their families to receive higher education.

One of those students is Dotan Segal from Kibbutz Tzora near Beit Shemesh, who came to Sapir College in 2006. "All of us here found ourselves in an insane situation. Sixty students were sitting and writing one examination among many, and during the exam we had to leave everything three times and rush to the protected area because of "Color Red" alerts. We are trying to cope with the abnormal situation in various ways. Dealing with it involves many values that are implanted within us that range from Zionism to our desire to obtain an education. But for most of us, the main reason for our decision to study here is the high level of studies in the college," explained Dotan Segal, who also serves as the spokesman for the Sapir College student union.

Four students volunteered to share their feelings with members of the solidarity delegation and to answer the unavoidable question: Why - with all the numerous alternatives available in Israel - did they decide to study here, in the middle of the danger zone? Michal Leibeh a student in the Faculty of Communications who has been living in nearby Kibbutz Dorot during her studies - a community that was not a primary target of the Hamas rockets - talked about her feelings. "The alarm itself is much more frightening than the explosion of the rocket when it lands. When you hear the explosion, you get a feeling of relief." Her classmate, Ravit Levi from Tel Aviv, went to live in Beersheba when she began her studies at the Sapir College. "All in all, you get used to the sounds of the alarm and the explosions. During the fighting when the college was closed I left Beersheba and went back to my parents' house in Tel Aviv. Now that everything has calmed down again I'm still a bit confused and haven't returned to a normal routine. It's as if the quiet is only temporary."

The third student, Tarin Simchi, spoke about her first encounter with a qassam rocket landing. "I ran like mad to the protected room and after the explosion I was shaking all over for the next ten minutes. I learned very quickly that there are protected facilities all over the college campus so that everyone can get to a protected area in less than 15 seconds." Shirley Cohn, a student who was born in Iran, expressed her doubts, together with a significant amount of determination. "I have no doubt that our (Palestinian) neighbors in Gaza are suffering. Something has to be done about it, but I don't see anyone (Palestinians) wanting to cooperate. They want all of us to leave Israel and go back from where we came, but I don't believe that the president of Iran, Ahmedinijad, would be pleased to take my family and me back again. I'm not optimistic, and I don't think that the ceasefire will hold even until the end of this academic year - my final year here."

Turkey: The longer view

n considering the Israel-Turkey relationship, Israelis have reason to feel let down by the behavior of the Turkish government and people. From the start of Operation Cast Lead on December 27, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been on a diplomatic rampage. His words - coupled with the unbalanced media coverage prevalent worldwide - incited the Turkish masses into an anti-Israel, anti-Jewish frenzy. Turkish leaders declared that Israel was committing atrocities against Gaza and would be punished by Allah.
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=urlimage&blobheader=image%2Fjpeg&blobheadername1=Cache-Control&blobheadervalue1=max-age%3D420&blobkey=id&blobtable=JPImage&blobwhere=1228728251462&cachecontrol=5%3A0%3A0+*%2F*%2F*&ssbinary=true

Israel's Ankara embassy has been in a virtual security lock-down. Turkish basketball fans chanted "Death to the Jews" during a recent match against Bnei Hasharon. Signs in Anatolia declare: "No Armenians or Jews. Dogs OK."

In the latest outrage, Erdogan stormed off the stage in Davos after shouting, "You are killing people" at President Shimon Peres; he was welcomed home as "The Conqueror of Davos."

No wonder Israeli tourists - over 500,000 in 2008 - are staying away

Israel may reject Turkish arms request

As Turkish-Israeli diplomatic relations continue to crumble, the close ties between the two countries in other areas are being reexamined as well.
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=urlimage&blobheader=image%2Fjpeg&blobheadername1=Cache-Control&blobheadervalue1=max-age%3D420&blobkey=id&blobtable=JPImage&blobwhere=1233304655944&cachecontrol=5%3A0%3A0+*%2F*%2F*&ssbinary=true

The Defense Ministry is considering rejecting a number of requests by Turkey to purchase advanced Israeli-made military platforms, officials told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.

The IDF and the Turkish military enjoy strong ties, but there is growing concern in Israel that the military could be losing its power and influence within and over the government.

"Turkey is eyeing moderate Arab countries and is hoping to strengthen its ties with them," one senior defense official explained. "Just like we don't sell advanced military platforms to Jordan and Egypt, we may decide not to sell to Turkey."

Kassam fired from Gaza lands in Sha'ar Hanegev kibbutz

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=URLIMAGE&blobheader=image%2Fjpeg&blobheadername1=Cache-Control&blobheadervalue1=max-age%3D420&blobkey=ID&blobtable=JPVideo&blobwhere=1233304663814&cachecontrol=5%3A0%3A0+*%2F*%2F*&ssbinary=true
Gaza terrorists resumed their attacks on southern Israeli civilian areas on Monday night, firing a Kassam rocket that hit a kibbutz in the Sha'ar Hanegev region.

No one was wounded and no damage was reported in the attack, and the rocket warning siren was sounded.

Earlier Monday, minutes after a mortar shell struck an open area in the Eshkol region, IAF warplanes responded, launching a missile at a vehicle in the southern Gaza Strip.

According to witnesses in the area, one person was killed and three others were wounded in the attack. The IDF said that the men were part of the cell which fired the mortar shell into Israel.

I love walking in the rain because no one knows I'm crying

Below is the most upsetting scene I have ever seen in my whole life. A Palestinian mother is dying in her child's arms.
